Why On Becoming New?
I use writing to explore the world, to delve deeper into myself and analyze situations that I find myself in. I have found that by documenting my journey, I am then able to look back and see how God is changing me into the person that He wants me to be.
I chose “On Becoming New” as the title of my journey and of my blog because of 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
I LOVE that! “All things are become new.” It seems like such a strange verb usage, but it isn’t. “Are become new” is what is called a “Perfect Tense verb”, which means that it talks about something that is continuous. Present perfect tense expresses an action that occurred at an indefinite time in the past or that began in the past and continues in the present.
2 Corinthians 5:17 tells me that becoming new is a process….a journey. My life has been a journey fashioned by choices both right and wrong, Christ-like and unChrist-like. I regret many choices that I have made, but realize that I am forgiven and that I not doomed to repeat the past.
Perhaps this will be one of the many blogs that go unnoticed. Perhaps this will be a blog that no one reads. Perhaps the only purpose of this blog is to provide some sort of cathartic healing as I process my life. Or perhaps there will be someone who will happen upon this blog and read something that will help them in their life’s journey.

Hi,
Thanks for your comment. It’s nice to hear from people on similar paths.
What a great observation that “are become new” implies an on-going process. Thank you for that.
I will keep my eye on your new blog!

Hello, I am glad to find your blog. I love the way you have amplified this one verse in 2 Corin. I have never quite thought about the verb tense in that way but it makes beautiful sense.
God Bless you always!
