Finding Fulfillment

November 25, 2008

Wishing for something bigger, we trade all that we are and in return get nothing.

Wanting something more, we sacrifice what we have and find that we have already lost it all.

Striving to become more valued, we exchange those who hold us dear for those who will never see our worth.

Struggling to breathe, we exchange oxygen for water.

Longing to drink, we fill our pitchers with mud.

Looking in the mirror, we no longer see ourselves; we see who the world tells us we are.

And yet we wonder why we are not ever finding fulfillment.
